Dennis has consistently been one of the top-ranked portfolio strategists in the Institutional Investor’s annual poll. His daily market note covers major macro and micro events, analyzing their tactical/short term impact on markets as well as their implications for longer term market themes. Colin Fenton heads commodities research for 22V. Previously, he was the global head of commodities research and chief commodities strategist for J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. There, he was a member of the management committee that supervises the work of about 1,000 research analysts worldwide across all asset classes and sectors. He has served as a managing director at Duquesne Capital Management, chief intelligence officer of Ospraie Management, and founder and managing partner of Curium Capital Advisers. Fenton began his Wall Street career in 1996 as an original member of the commodities research group at Goldman, Sachs & Co. Before joining Goldman, Colin was the research assistant to Ambassador Chester A. Crocker, the former U.S. assistant secretary of state for African Affairs. Colin holds a Master of Science in Foreign Service (MSFS) degree from Georgetown University’s Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service. He is presently serving a three-year term on the Board of Advisors for the MSFS program. Previously, he was a Non-Resident Fellow at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs in the Center on Global Energy Policy. Colin is also a graduate of Princeton University, where he studied early modern history. read more
Bill Hebel is the head of 22V Financial Research with company coverage across the regional bank space. Prior to joining 22V, Bill spent 14 years in a variety of investment roles, most recently as a Senior Analyst at Schonfeld covering banks and credit card stocks. Similarly, he has covered a variety of balance sheet financials at Millennium Partners, Seawolf Capital & FrontPoint Partners. Bill began his career at Merrill Lynch where he spent 16 years across Equity Capital Markets and Research Sales before launching Merrill’s Financials Specialty Sales vertical in the U.S. Bill holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree from the College of William & Mary in Virginia and a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) from Columbia University. Michael joins 22V Research from Eurasia Group, the political advisory. As practice head for China and Northeast Asia, he guided global investors and firms through political and geopolitical developments ranging from US-China tensions to China’s stimulus policies and regulatory crackdowns. Prior to joining Eurasia Group, he was the US Treasury Department’s chief representative in China from 2013-2016. In this capacity, he engaged closely with Chinese officials on a broad range of macroeconomic and financial issues and advised senior US government officials on key developments in China. He spent a total of ten years working on international financial and economic issues for the Treasury as well as the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. Michael has an MA in international affairs and China studies from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), and a BA from Pomona College. read more
Jeff Jacobson is a managing director, head of derivative strategy, at 22V Research. Jeff has nearly thirty years of equity trading and equity derivative experience, including the last thirteen years as head derivative strategist for Knight Capital, Raymond James Financial and most recently Seaport Global. Jeff graduated from SUNY Albany in 1990 with a finance degree and received his MBA, with a concentration in finance, from Fordham University in 1995. Jacob Funk Kirkegaard has been associated with the Peterson Institute for International Economics (PIIE) since 2002, and is currently a nonresident senior fellow with PIIE and resident senior fellow with the independent thinktank Bruegel in Brussels. Before joining the PIIE, Jacob worked with the Danish Ministry of Defense, the United Nations in Iraq, and in the private financial sector. He is a graduate of the Danish Army’s Special School of Intelligence and Linguistics with the rank of first lieutenant; the University of Aarhus in Aarhus, Denmark; the Columbia University in New York; and received his PhD from Johns Hopkins University, School of Advanced International Studies. Gerard MacDonell owns and operates Front Harbor Macro Research, a firm focused on forecasting and analyzing economic and policy developments. Before launching Front Harbor, Gerard was a Managing Director and Economist at Point72 working to help all members of the investment team analyze economic developments, policy transitions and data releases. While at Point72, he was also responsible for filtering and summarizing incoming industry research so that PM’s and analysts could efficiently incorporate large amounts of market information into their investment decisions. Prior to Point72, Gerard was the Chief Economist at JP Morgan Asset Management with a particular focus on Fixed Income and before that he was an economist with the Royal Bank of Canada. read more
John’s worked on Wall Street since 1987 with his research background beginning in 1990. From 1990 – 1994, Mr. Roque worked at Safian Investment Research and then from 1994 – 1998 at Lehman Brothers, where he partnered with long-time technician Steve Shobin. He was at Arnhold & S. Bleichroeder (and its incarnations) from 1998 – 2009 and then a short stint at WJB Capital through 2011. From 2012 – 2015 Mr. Roque worked on the buy-side at Soros Fund Management and then from 2016 – 2018 at Key Square Capital Management. He returned to the sell-side in April 2019 at Wolfe Research before joining 22V. John was a ranked Technical Analyst in the Institutional Investor Magazine’s Research Poll from 2009 – 2011. Jordi Visser heads AI Macro Nexus Research for 22V. A product he developed to equip investors with a framework to tackle the intertwined dynamics of AI-driven innovation and economic transformation. Prior to joining 22V, Jordi Visser was the Founder and Chief Strategist of Visser-Labs, a consulting firm dedicated to helping asset managers and investors navigate the disruption caused by AI and digital assets. Since launching the firm in 2024, Jordi has focused on advising clients on how to adapt their strategies, portfolios and firms to the evolving financial landscape shaped by emerging technologies. Prior to launching Visser-Labs, Jordi was the President and Chief Investment Officer of Weiss Multi-Strategy Advisers, where he spent two decades. He joined the firm with his team as a Portfolio Manager to build out the macro portion of the firm. In 2009, he became CIO, and by 2013, he spearheaded the development of the firm’s data analytics and talent assessment model for behavioral alpha, known as “Baseball Cards.” Before his time at Weiss, Jordi was the Founding Managing Partner of Anchor Point Asset Management, a global macro hedge fund. Prior to that he was a Managing Director at Morgan Stanley, where he traded various global equity derivative books, managed the ETF business and opened the firm’s office in Sao Paulo, Brazil in 1997 where he managed the sales and trading effort. He graduated magna cum laude from Manhattan College. Kim Wallace is a senior managing director at 22V Research heading the Washington policy risk team. A fiscal and financial policy expert, Mr. Wallace has managed policy research teams at private capital market and government entities.From 1994-2008, Mr. Wallace traveled extensively in Asia, Europe and North America briefing institutional investor clients on risks and opportunities coming from a range of policies including macroeconomics (monetary, fiscal and trade policies), deregulation (financials and telecoms) and US elections. Mr. Wallace nine times was a member of Institutional Investor Magazine’s All-American all-star research team. From January 2009 through October 2011, after unanimous Senate confirmation, Mr. Wallace served as the Treasury Department’s assistant secretary for legislative affairs where he managed a team of 17. During those years, he was a principal on the Dodd-Frank implementation team and a member of both the housing reform task for and debt limit working group. He was awarded the Treasury Department’s Alexander Hamilton Award in 2011. Mr. Wallace is board secretary and member of the finance committee at of the nonprofit Center for Budget and Policy Priorities. A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin and Johns Hopkins University, Mr. Wallace and his wife live in Silver Spring, MD. Peter Williams is an experienced global macro analyst with a career across the public and private sectors. He spent the past two years as a Director on Evercore ISI’s global central bank strategy team, analyzing and forecasting central bank policy and macroeconomic developments across G7 economies. Prior to his time at Evercore, he spent four years at the International Monetary Fund where he focused on interest rate and inflation modeling, as well as forecasting and advising policy makers for the US and other economies. He has held other roles in the public sector, buy side, and independent research organizations. Sandra Namoos is a director on the Washington Policy Team at 22V Research. Having served as political appointee during two previous administrations, Sandra provides clients with a thorough understanding of the functioning of the executive branch and its relationship with Congress. During the Obama administration she worked in the Treasury Department’s Office of Legislative Affairs as deputy to then-Assistant Secretary of Kim Wallace (who currently heads 22V’s Washington Policy). She managed the 16-member staff and represented Wallace’s view with senior policy officials and congressional staff. During the Clinton administration, she was a legislative analyst in the Executive Office of the President for the Office of Management and Budget under then-Director Jack Lew. In this role, Sandra coordinated the clearance process for the Statement of Administration Policy, interacting with senior policymakers to ensure it reflected the administration’s official position on major legislation. She also spent five years at Lehman Bothers as an equity research analyst on the Policy Risk Strategy team. Sandra earned a bachelor's degree in political science and psychology, as well as a master’s degree in political science from Case Western Reserve University in her hometown of Cleveland, Ohio. Houze Song is the Director of China Research at 22V Research, a role he has held since August 2024. With over a decade of experience analyzing China's economy, he previously spent nearly 11 years at the Paulson Institute, where he was a fellow at MacroPolo, the institute’s in-house think tank. At MacroPolo, he led research on the Chinese economy, specializing in subnational and regional analysis, including local government debt, regional economic divergence, infrastructure investment, and labor flows. Houze holds an MA in Applied Statistics and an MPA in Economic Policy from Columbia University. A 2017 graduate of Trinity College-Hartford with a degree in Economics, Ryan developed his professional foundation through strategic internships during his academic career. Ricardo is a veteran Equity Sales Trader with 23 years of distinguished experience in Brazil and Europe. His career began at Banco Pactual, where he initially served as a local sales trader and later became the sole sales trader for European accounts. Following Banco Pactual's merger with UBS, Ricardo was transferred to UBS in London, where he gained valuable international exposure and honed his skills. Upon returning to Brazil, Ricardo joined Credit Suisse as the Head of Latam Equities Sales & Trading. In this role, he led the team with a strategic vision, enhancing trading strategies and market penetration, which significantly boosted revenue and client engagement. Bruno Stuani is an accomplished finance professional with more than two decades of experience in investment management, equity trading, and wealth advisory. Currently serving as Co-Head of Latin America at 22V Research, he last position as a Partner at Genial Investimentos in São Paulo, where he focuses on investor relations. Before this, Bruno co-founded Helius Capital, where he led macro strategy development and managed client relationships. Bruno’s career has spanned prestigious roles in both Latin America and international markets. He held directorial positions at Bank of America Merrill Lynch and TradeWire LLC, specializing in Latin American equity sales trading. He also worked as a financial advisor for wealth management at UBS Bank in Geneva, further showcasing his global expertise. His career began at Banco Pactual, where he was Vice President and a key player in Latam equity trading. Bruno holds an MBA in Economics in Financial Markets from FEA USP and a Bachelor's degree in Business from FAAP, both based in São Paulo. He is certified by FINRA (Series 7) and ANBIMA (CPA 20). Beyond his professional achievements, he is married, has two boys and is a passionate triathlete, having completed four Ironman competitions. Mike Walsh is a Managing Director and Head of Boston Sales at 22V Research. Prior to joining the firm, Mike worked on sales desks for Deutsche Bank and Stephens before joining BMO Capital Markets as a Director of Equity Sales. He also has a background on the buyside starting his career with Point72 Asset Management in Broker Relations. Mark Whaling joined 22V Research in January 2025 as the Head of Business Development & Strategic Growth with a focus on expanding 22V's product offerings, distribution channels, and client facing talent. In addition to his role at 22V, Mark Whaling is the founder of Whaleshark LLC and a founding partner of WS strategic partner firms, Black Powder Partners and Black Powder Search. In all roles, he leverages his 25 years of institutional sales, finance, and management experience to drive positive outcomes for clients and partners. Prior to 22V, WS, and BPP, Mark was the Global Head of Securities at Canaccord Genuity, a position he held since April 2019. He was responsible for the oversight of all global sales, trading, research, and specialty desks. Previously, Mr. Whaling was Global Head of Sales and Trading, and from 2012 to 2015, he served as Head of Global Equity Sales and Trading. Mark joined Collins Stewart (which was acquired by Canaccord Genuity in March 2012) in 2008 as Head of US Equity Research and Sales. He was promoted to Head of Equities in September 2010. In March of 2011, he was promoted to President of Collins Stewart LLC and Head of US Securities. Before moving to Collins Stewart, Mark spent five years as a Managing Director of Institutional Equity Sales and Director of Product Development at FTN Financial. Previously, Mark was Head of Product Development at FTN Financial and a Vice President in the Institutional Sales departments of Bank of America Securities and ABN AMRO. Mr. Whaling holds a BA in history from Princeton University, where he remains deeply involved with their Football and Lacrosse Alumni organizations and helps mentor student athletes. Outside of his life in finance, Mark is active in charitable causes. He is Chairman of the Special Operators Transition Foundation, which helps special forces veterans find high quality employment. Additionally, he is on the board of the Westchester Chapter of the NFF, Golden Dozen, which provides scholarships for student athletes. With over 10 years of industry experience, Dominick is responsible for ensuring the security, reliability, and efficiency of the firm’s critical systems and networks. In this role, Dominick oversees technology operations, cybersecurity & networking initiatives, and data management, aligning IT strategy with 22V Research’s business objectives. Prior to joining 22V Research, Dominick worked at Evercore Partners, where he provided IT support across various segments of the Investment Bank, including Equity Research, Sales & Trading, Advisory, and Global Infrastructure Operations. read more
